How To Build A Character

When it comes to character creation, we know it isn't easy. The following questions always start to flood our minds when it comes to building up a new or old character into a new roleplay:

  • "Why would they be here?"
  • "Do they know anyone yet?"
  • "Where do I begin their story?"

And yes, we all know how difficult these questions can be to think of. It can be even worse for new characters because the questions more than double with the following core questions:

  • "Where are they from?"
  • "What do I want they to be like?"
  • "What do I make them look like?"
  • "Do they have any goals?"
  • "What sort of powers should they have, if any?"
  • "Are they a boy or a girl? Both? Neither?"

And of course, the hardest question to ever exist on any game or roleplay in existence which allows you create a character. "What do I name them?"

Or maybe, you can't think of any questions at all! And thus sit there, staring at the entire roleplay and question what even to do. Here at Hajime, we try our hardest to help people make characters and progress them. We are willing to assist with both Sheet Creation and Character Modeling. For more information, click either of the previous links and it will bring you to the posts explaining more and how to get assistance from specific members of staff so that your creation can be pushed a step forward.

The Sheet

In order to really get yourself going, copy the following code for the character sheet template, hopefully answering the questions in it helps to spark some character design before turning to staff for assistance!

PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT ALL BRAND NEW CHARACTERS BEGIN AT TIER 5

Once you have copied the information of the code above, please go to Citizen Papers and create a new topic. The name of the topic should be your character's name for the sake of quick search for either updating or working on your character. If you post up your character and are still working on it, please make the title that character's name and add "[W.I.P.]" at the end of it. This will tell us that the sheet is still a Work In Progress and thus will not gain attention or be checked when it is unfinished. If you are done with a sheet, you can simply add "[Awaiting Approval]" at the end of the title to get someone's attention quickly to your sheet.

About The Sheet

Classification: One of the Six which you can choose from on the Classification Page

Race: You Specific Character Race. In the case of Humans it would be Human-[Nationality]

Classification Weakness: This is NOT your Race Weakness but the weakness up on the Classification Page. Please only put the exact [Copy-Paste] weakness into this slot.

Classification Abilities: This is NOT your Race Abilities. Those can all fit in either Combat or Non-Combat abilities. Racial Abilities are based upon your Tier and are Optional. All New Players Start at Tier 5. This, too, is just a Copy-Paste of the Exact information there on the Classification Page.

Personal Inventory: These are items which are ALWAYS on your character's person. They don't tend to leave home without it. Items withing "Specialized Equipment" which are on your person, please just write next to the name {Personal Inventory}
For Example, Under "Specialized Equipment" it should look like this:

Item Name: Jack {Personal Inventory}
Damage Type: Piercing and Slashing
Damage: Moderate-Slashing, Heavy-Piercing
Extra: This Item is Hidden via dark magic by Scarecrow. Normally, it is kept within her shadow to be pulled out with ease.

Personal Property: These are items which your character does NOT have on their person. Meaning, it is stored away at a 'home' location On or Off of sim. These items CAN BE taken around with your character but are not Always. Thus telling us at least what they have the ability to come out with.

Specialized Equipment: Please use the code provided below in order to add your "Specialized Equipment". These items include any and all weapons [Even Classification Perks] and any personal item which has some sort of special effect for your character.

Non-Combat Abilities: Pretty straight to the point, Non-Combat Abilities are skills which CANNOT be used in combat.

Combat Abilities: Are abilities that can be used In and Out of combat situations.

Other Codes

For the sake of adding "Specialized Equipment" please copy the following format:
Code:
[b][u]Item Name:[/u][/b] (What is it, or what is it called?)
[b][u]Damage Type:[/u][/b] (Bludgeoning, Piercing or Slashing? Mix?)
[b][u]Damage:[/u][/b] (Minor, Moderate, Heavy, Major, Severe)
[b][u]Extra:[/u][/b] (Any other information on the item?)

For Adding new "Skills" or "Abilities" you are free to use the following format:
Code:
[b][u]Skill Name:[/u][/b] (What is the skill called?)
[b][u]Affinity:[/u][/b] (Specific Element? If no, put N/A)
[b][u]Damage Type:[/u][/b] (Bludgeoning, Piercing or Slashing? Mix?)
[b][u]Damage:[/u][/b] (Minor, Moderate, Heavy, Major, Severe)

Small Restrictions on Character Creation

****We understand that people normally do not like restrictions on the creation of their characters! However, this actually serves a purpose here, at Hajime! Characters are meant to grow, change over time. People meet, interact, socialize or completely ignore one another due to something that has happened. Characters choose paths that can change their entire lives in a matter of seconds. Due to these things being what we want our RolePlayers to feel and experience, we have decided that restricting newer characters would help influence roleplay and get characters meeting other people or even seeking new faces out for the sake of their development.

Each new character which you meet could change your entire reason for walking the streets of Hajime. Could change the way you view yourself or those that you call your friends, family and comrades. We want all of our roleplayers, our creators of content and society, to watch their character develop and thus, restrictions will be raised as characters progress through rankings of factions or just spending time in the city.****

When building a new character, please keep in mind the restrictions which will be listed below! Of course, each of these restrictions are lightened based on which factions your character is apart of. Examples of these bonus attributes from each faction can be found here at The Factions of Hajime City. Each faction has their own perks as well as weaknesses.

Weaponry: New characters should NOT have any weapons which one cannot find or buy at a sports store or hardware store. This means items such as Firearms[ALL], Poisons, Narcotics, Explosives, and Specialized Blades.

Scaling: New Characters should not have ANY skill that does above a moderate in damage! While this is a tad unfortunate, it helps us to balance the individuals around. It is easy to get stronger by just being in the city! So please keep such in mind!

Healing: New Character will not have a heal that does more than a moderate in total! Meaning, if you have 3 uses of a healing spell, it will only do Minor healing each unless you are part of a faction which allows amplified healing!
